About tlds.in

tlds.in answers one question: in which extensions is this exact word registered, and since when? Type a word and you get every extension we have seen it registered in, with the registration date, the expiry and the registrar, ordered from the oldest registration to the newest.

Where the data comes from

• Which names exist: we collect registered domain names from published zone files, certificate transparency logs, DNS scans and our own crawler, the same collection that powers crawls.in.
• Registration dates, expiry and registrar: the registry's own record, read over WHOIS or RDAP the last time we looked the name up.
• In DNS today: checked live when you open a page, by asking public DNS resolvers for each name's nameservers. Results are kept for an hour.

What it cannot tell you

• We only list names we have seen. A word can be registered in an extension we have not come across yet; opening its page asks our scanners to look, and new finds appear over time.
• "No date on record" means we do not have the date yet or the registry does not publish one (several country registries do not). Missing dates are looked up over time.
• A name that lapsed and was registered again shows the date of its newest registration, because that is what the registry's record says.
• "Not in DNS" means a name has no nameservers today. It may have lapsed, or it may be registered and kept without DNS. It never means a name is free to register: only the registry can say that, so check with a registrar before you plan on it.

Fair use and the API

Every page has a JSON twin: https://tlds.in/api/zebra returns the same rows, oldest first, and https://tlds.in/api/check/zebra returns the live DNS answer for each name. One address can look up 2,000 words a day; the count resets at midnight UTC. For more, write to [email protected]: it is a conversation, not a block.

Privacy

When you look up a word we record the word, the time, your network address and country, and the page you came from, to keep the service fair to everyone and to see which words people look for. We do not sell or share these records. Visits are counted with counter.dev, which sets no cookies. tlds.in sets no cookies of its own and shows no advertising.
